Manny Pacquiao coming to Silliman University

It's good to hear Manny Pacquiao, the country's national boxing pride is going to Silliman University in Dumaguete City.
He is not going to continue his studies there.
He will be guest during the Silliman U's Founder's Day festivities.
According to Marv Dumon in his article in examiner.com Pacquiao, who represents the province of Saranggani in the House of Representatives, will be guest of Silliman Univesity's College of Law founding anniversary on
Auguest 26.
I got this confirmation also from Atty. Lester Nuique, president of the Silliman University College of Law Alumni (SULAW).
On August 26, 2010 at 10 o'clock in the morning, Rep. Manny Pacquiao will be the speaker in the University convocation at the Luce Auritorium.
In the afternoon, Pacquiao will be the inspirational speaker during the Silliman law alumni fellowship at 4:00 p.m. at the Villareal Hall.
Pacquiao is slated to spend the night in Dumaguete.
He visits Silliman before he leaves for the United States, Dumon in his article added.
It's good to hear Pacquiao is coming to Dumaguete City.
He will learn that Duamguete City has a rich boxing history.
Development of young amateur boxing potentials goes a long way back, spearheaded by the Amateur Boxing Association of Negros Oriental (ABANO).
One boxing local has already fought in the international scene, Jimrex Jaca, who hails from Sibulan.
There are quite a number of boxing potentials in Dumaguete City.

Manny has had so many opponents who were champions in their own right, all sent to their demolishing defeats.
But this one is the clincher.
This Filipino boxer will be remembered in boxing history.
The unexpectedly brief boxing bout against British brawler Ricky Hatton showcased the unmatched, pulverizing punching powers of Manny Pacquiao.
I am referring to the speed-defying killer right, and hammering left hooks.
These are punches that can knockdown a carabao.
The fight has erased all questions, dispelled all doubts of Pacquiao's supremacy in the boxing ring.
Manny Pacquiao's place in boxing history is already secured.

Upset reactor

A reader who was visibly upset over my latest blogpost, reveals an apparent ugly political bickering within the Pacquiao circle.
Well, where there is money, there is politics. and vice-versa.
Unfortunately, the reactor did not get what the post was really about.
He or she thought it was about Pacquiao.
Anyway, here is the raction, and my comment to the reaction:

Its pathetic for who ever started this stupid rumor... I know these people.. most of those that are involved with Pacquiao here in Los Angeles. I think I have an idea on who's the LOSER that started this story... its out of JEALOUSY for the couple for what they have accomplished earning Manny;s trust and therefore they are more favored. I just hope people aren't too naive to go believing "alleged" news that a certain sad individual has spread. Just because some one claims something does not make it a fact.

I SUGGEST YOU TALK TO MANNY TO GET THE REAL STORY!!!! LET HEAR IT FROM HIM.

I don't think Pacquiao will grant me an interview, as he is now probably too busy for me.
But you missed the point of the blogpost.
It wasn't about Pacquiao.
It is about incidents involving banks that negligently allow the encashment of forged checks.
It just so happened that it was Pacquiao's checking account that was involved, and it naturally caused a stir.
But there have been many Supreme Court decisions treating the liability, responsibility or culpability of banks that encash forged checks.
The point is, it is the bank's responsibility.
That is why Wells Fargo was all too willing to refund Pacquiao.
Unfortunately, at times when it involves lesser known account holders, banks don't usually come so easy in admitting liability.
It even has to reach the courts.
In any event, I am not really interested in the politics and the bickerings within Manny Pacquiao's inner circle.
I just enjoy watching him fight in the ring.

Die hard Morales fan writes

So much has been written about the sensational November 18 2006 "Grand Finale" between Filipino Manny Pacquiao and Mexican Erik Morales.
Many of the articles about the epic battle have flowed out on the internet ("internets" according to a war-freak leader).
But the one that tops is that written by an emotionally struck die-hard Erik Morales fan named James MacDonald posted at saddoboxing. The title aptly describes it: The End of an Era.
This one's a good read.

Pacquiao writes off Morales

It was an epic battle that spelled the end of an era.

Manny Pacuiqao in a fashion as quick as his fists clobbered Mexican legend Erik "El Terrible" Morales before the end of three rounds.

Pacquiao a southpaw, this time introduced his killer right hook in this fight, which rendered Morales shocked everytime it landed on his face.

Manny Pacquiao moved in and out of Morales, preventing the Mexican champ from unleashing right-arm arsenal.

It was a highly improved Pacquiao in this third fight, with so many new movements that complemented his speed and punching power.

We watched the live in National Sports Grill at the Greenbelt III.

The rowdy Filipino crowd was estatic at each time Manny Pacquiao landed a solid punch to the opponent.

With his vicotry Manny Pacquiao is now both a fierce and feared fighter that will scare the hell of those Mexican pugs.

Morales was right. Pacquiao was just too strong and too fast for him.

I am watching the replay ofthe fight as I am writing this and I just saw Morales pummelled backwards and down to the canvass on his third and final knockdown.

It was a trilogy of a knockdowns.

Morales was knocked down thrice, from clear killer punches from Pacquiao, enough to make Morales shake his head and signal "no more" before millions of viewers around the world.

More "live" feeds of Pacquiao-Morales brawl

I am delighted to learn that more establishemnts, not just the movie houses, are offering live telecasts of the Pacquiao-Morales bout on Sunday November 18, 2006.
I have never seen a Pacquiao fight live. It had always been on delayed telecast on Skycable.
Then the movie houses offered to show live sattelite feeds of the Pacquiao bouts at exhorbitant fees. Nonetheless, the tickets sold like hotcakes.
But in this third Pacuiqao-Morales fight in Las Vegas, restaurants and food outfits will also be setting up big screens and will show "live" the fight to their customers.
This is a welcome development for me. This time I will be watching the fight "live".
Movie houses charge from P500 to P700 for a seat to the "live" bout.
The restaurants, like national sp;orts Grill and Fish Company are now joining the "live" feeds, also for a fee.
They are offering between P400 per head, P200 worth of which is "consumable".
It's a better deal, since you eat and drink while watching the fight.
Trouble is, its on a first-come-first-serve basis so we will have to be early so we can choose the best seats or tables.
Menwhile, in Manila, the Pacquiao-Morales fight will be shown for free to Manilenos. The local government there has apparently sponsored this activity so the common can also watch the fight live.
Anyway, while the entire nation will be on a virtual standstill on Sunday morning, business will be brisk as ever. That's courtesy of Manny Pacquiao who has opened a new window for business opportunities to a lot of establishments.
